In his article, Patel outlines four questions for the company who wants to get into social media marketing:
- Where is my audience? (Where is the audience actually spending its time?)
- Where is my audience active? (Not all users are active, in fact, a bunch aren't.)
- Where is my audience searching? (Social media is used for searching as well as sharing.)
- What niche social media sites are right for me? (Small SNSs can be great sources of small, targeted audiences)

I found this article very straightforward and helpful. Particularly in regard to the non-Big Four platforms, Patel's explanations and advice was good for me because my own engagement with social media has been mainly focused on those four (plus stuff like YouTube). I look forward to learning more about Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr.

- Facebook: users aren't only browsing profile updates and pictures, but also pages, groups and events.
- Twitter: not as good for lead generation as it is for brand loyalty.
- LinkedIn: the platform for B2B marketing.
- Google+: connection to the biggest search engine out there is probably important. Also, Hangouts.
