Summary
Mostly this blog post consisted of an infographic of the same name that highlights some data about B2B content marketing as taken from a few different sources. Some of the highlights:
- The infographic makes a correlation between content marketing effectiveness and having a documented content strategy.
- Social media is the most popular content marketing channel for B2B companies, with infographics being used increasingly.
- LinkedIn and Twitter (followed closely by Facebook and YouTube) are the most-used social media platforms used currently by B2B marketers.
- A big challenge for content marketers is actually measuring effectiveness.
- More than half of B2B marketers plan on increasing their budgets.
Response
I found this interesting, especially in terms of my A3 topic, Modern Machine Shop Magazine, which is a B2B brand. I'll be keeping these data in mind as I work on a social media recommendation report later in the semester.
It's useful to know that B2Bs are using LinkedIn and Twitter the most, and in light of that, it's interesting to see that, according to the infographic, the top five most effective tactics include webinars/webcasts, videos, blogs and case studies. (I know that case studies are what MMS does really well.)
It's also encouraging to see content marketers (allegedly) increasing budgets in 2015, and hopefully the sheer number of job posts is an indicator of this.

Questions
It seems that content marketers themselves are struggling with this question, but how do you measure content strategy effectiveness?
Possibly related to the other question is this: In practical terms, what is a content strategy, exactly?
